Welcome
This is the 9th year of Advent Reflections offered by The Wisconsin United Methodist Federation for Social Action (WUMFSA).
Every year has had a different focus and writers. This year we move from the First Sunday in Advent to Christmas Day. The first four reflections each week are edited versions of comments from the archives of Kairos CoMotion Lectionary Blog (kcmlection.blogspot.com). The remaining reflections take a look at how John Wesley used these scripture passages in his sermons.
This year we invite you to begin on the First Sunday in Advent by reflecting on the picture provided. As you move from Monday to Saturday there will be reflections on the lections used the previous Sunday. Hopefully this reinforcement will deepen the echoes still moving from the previous Sunday.
Contact information about the Wisconsin United Methodist Federation for Social Action and a Membership form at the end.
Also included is information about our coming workshop with Phil Carver - Worshiping God - Just for Us or for Justice. We will look at how contemporary church music might be improved with the addition of lyrics that go beyond the most conservative theology about me and Jesus.
For ongoing information you may reach us on the web at wumfsa.org.
Scripture and a note are taken from The Wesley Study Bible - NRSV. Pictures between scripture and comment are from the web. If we missed a copyright permission, do let us know.
Peace and Joy, anyway!

WUMFSA is a state chapter of the National Methodist Federation for Social Action (MFSA).
MFSA was founded in 1907. Immediately the Federation became Methodism’s unofficial rallying point for the Social Gospel and achieved in 1908 the adoption of the first denominational social creed.
Currently the Mission of MFSA includes:
MFSA mobilizes clergy and laity
within The United Methodist Church
to take action
on issues of peace, poverty and people’s rights
within the church, the nation and the world.
Working primarily through the ministries of
The United Methodist Church,
MFSA supports and augments
peace and justice ministries
at the local, conference, and national levels.
As an independent organization,
we call our church to expand its understanding
of the radical call of the Gospel
to be the inclusive,
justice-seeking,
risk-taking
Body of Christ.
MFSA lives out our belief
that to be faithful witnesses to
the Gospel of Jesus Christ
is to be involved
in the transformation of the social order.
You can find out more about the National MFSA on the web at mfsaweb.org.
