Introduction

Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that she has served her term, that her penalty is paid, that she has received from the Lord's hand double for all her sins. Isaiah 40: 1 2

Events beginning on 9-11 of 2001 poignantly reminded us of the Source of our comfort, available to hear our cries. Throughout history, people have sought comfort, and a word of hope in the midst of despair. The theme of these devotionals tell us again of our call to proclaim justice, be prophetic, witness for peace, receive our rewards under God's terms, recognize God's presence in events around us and feed God's children. When we are faithful to that call, we provide and receive comfort.

The writers for these meditations are all members of the Wisconsin Annual Conference:

Week I, The Proclamation of John the Baptist, Sue Burwell, Monona
Week II, Jesus Cleanses the Temple, Wesley White, LaCrosse
Week III, Not Peace, But a Sword, Myron Talcott, Madison
Week IV, Rewards, Sandra Herrmann, Greenfield
Week V, When did we see you , Sungsoo Hans Hahn, Madison
Week VI, Feed My Sheep, Mary Council-Austin, Fond du Lac

May these devotionals provide you insights and understanding of your call to prayer, reflection and action during these days of preparation and worship in honor of the coming of the Prince of Peace.
