Advent / Christmas Meditations 2006-07

From Why Me? to Why Not?
For me?

And he shall stand and feed his flock…and he shall be the one of peace.

    -  Micah 5: 4a, 5a

On those days when I feel the most defeated, I need a strong arm. I need a guide.

I need sustenance.

Micah had a vision of what this might be. Read Micah 5:4-5.

This verse came to mind as I watched our 6’7” son feeding lunch to the little lineup of my grandchildren on our family vacation recently, this tall presence providing for the needs of those helpless little ones who sense safety in his care. Just as the Israelites whose world was filled with chaos & injustice hungered for words of comfort such as Micah’s, I look for one who will “stand & feed his flock.”

Prayer:  Giver of Care & Comfort, open my eyes to your presence in new places in my life. Amen.
